That's right, many of the animations are rendered hardware accelerated with CSS3 transitions and 5 steps to a powerful personal brand all the spinning/turning stuff you see are CSS3 transforms.
The only rules currently not supported are the draw rules except for stalemate: threefold repetition, the fiftymove rule, impossibility of checkmate and mutual agreement.
